Bio

A Pennsylvania-born Lansdale-Philly native, Dave Weakley came up in the late 80’s with PA based band Teeze (SMC/Greenworld). After selling 40,000 units of their debut album “Teeze” the band went on to sign with Columbia Records and released “Roughhouse” produced by Max Norman of Ozzy Osbourne fame in 1988.

The band became a favorite on MTV with their video “Tonight” and toured the US extensively before disbanding in 1991. The band has since reunited and performs sporadically throughout PA, NJ, NY and MD.  Dave has continued to write, record, produce and perform, and has recently released his first solo album simply titled, “WEAKLEY”.

Dave’s extensive resume of live performance include shows with Steel Panther, Eddie Money, Lita Ford, Rick Derringer, Stephen Pearcey, Kix, Ace Frehley, Skid Row, Steppenwolf, Black Oak Arkansas, Blackfoot, Stryper, Faster Pussycat, Cinderella, L.A. Guns etc….

Dave started his career early, writing a good share of the songs on the Teeze and Roughhouse albums.  He then formed American Sugar Bitch where he was the chief writer along with current guitarist Matt Nardo. While this album represents Dave’s creative depth and soulful approach, it can truly not be categorized in a specific genre. It has been described as “Bowie-esq” by many.

Press Reviews

“More than just musical tastes, this album represents songwriting influences. A rock album in the most traditional sense – not hard and heavy – as is the norm today – but that of solid arrangements, deceptively catchy hooks and a nostalgic presence that reminds us where it all came from…The Beatles, The Kinks, Bowie, Kiss, The Sweet…these artists pushed the boundaries and laid the foundations of modern Rock. They gave the green light to artist experimentation and going with “that song that’s in your head” approach. “Weakley” does just that – rolling it all together in a modern interpretation of style, grace and authenticity, which proves to be a welcomed change of pace. Songwriting is an expressive art form and “Weakley” has expressed it well.

WOW! Is the first thing that comes to mind, once I heard the Dave Weakley Solo Album!! I have been a fan of Dave’s for almost 35 years now, and only knew him for most of that time as the mysterious bass player of TEEZE / Roughhouse, but the mystery is now over! Dave is much more than just a bass player; he is a multi-instrument / multi-talented musician who writes and was finally able to release a passion project of music from the heart! If you are expecting to be “Looking for Action” or wanting to “Party Hardy” DON’T! But you should expect music that you would think the Beatles of the late 60’s would write. So just give Weakley a chance, with an open mind and ear, and be prepared to be pleasantly surprised and enjoy the musical range of this Philly legend!!
